چکیده
Abstract Two recent initiatives, the World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group on Malaria Eradication and Lancet Commission Eradication, have assessed feasibility of achieving global malaria eradication proposed strategies to achieve it. Both reports rely a climate-driven model transmission conclude that long-term trends in climate will assist efforts overall and, consequently, neither prioritize manage effects variability change programming. This review discusses pathways via which affects reviews suitability models inform such as an programme. Climate can influence directly, through dynamics, or indirectly, myriad including many socioeconomic factors underpin risk. These indirect are largely unpredictable so not included disease models. Such been effective at predicting from weeks months ahead. However, due several well-documented limitations, projections cannot accurately predict medium- malaria, especially local scales. Long-term shifting patterns, but shocks (extreme weather events) sub-seasonal decadal timeframes much greater than also more easily integrated into control programmes. In light these conclusions, pragmatic approach is assessing managing risk programmes control, eliminate ultimately eradicate disease. A range practical measures climate-proof strategy, be implemented today ensure do derail progress towards eradication.

A new global malaria eradication strategy.
On Oct 17, 2007, Bill and Melinda Gates called for complete eradication to be adopted as the new goal for the age-old fi ght against malaria, with the Director General of WHO, Margaret Chan, promptly echoing their conviction. Although debate over the wisdom of this target will continue, growing impatience with the low ambitions of current eff orts, fuelled by reductions in morbidity and mortali...

Theenormousdecline in theannualmorbidity andmortality frommalaria is the spectacular global public health success of the past decade. This achievement results largely from increased finance for investment in measures known to prevent malaria: bednets treated with long-lasting insecticides, chemoprophylaxis, and rapid access to effective treatment.Suchhasbeenthesuccessof thesemeasures thatplans ...
متن کاملA Research Agenda to Underpin Malaria Eradication
The interruption of malaria transmission worldwide is one of the greatest challenges for international health and development communities. The current expert view suggests that, by aggressively scaling up control with currently available tools and strategies, much greater gains could be achieved against malaria, including elimination from a number of countries and regions; however, even with ma...
متن کاملA Research Agenda for Malaria Eradication: Vaccines
Vaccines could be a crucial component of efforts to eradicate malaria. Current attempts to develop malaria vaccines are primarily focused on Plasmodium falciparum and are directed towards reducing morbidity and mortality. Continued support for these efforts is essential, but if malaria vaccines are to be used as part of a repertoire of tools for elimination or eradication of malaria, they will ...
